Las Vegas Community Relief Event

Las Vegas is known around the world for its bright lights and constant motion. Yet beyond the casinos and tourist crowds, thousands of people in the same city struggle to access something far more basic: a shower, clean clothing, or a toothbrush. Across Southern Nevada, the challenge is growing. Nearly 7,900 people experience homelessness on any given night in Clark County.

For people navigating homelessness, everyday items many take for granted like soap, deodorant, or a clean pair of socks can become difficult to afford. Without access to these essentials, people face greater health risks and additional barriers when trying to secure employment, attend appointments, or rebuild stability.

That’s why organizations across the Las Vegas community came together last month for a Health & Hygiene outreach event designed to support individuals experiencing hardship with dignity-centered care.

Through a partnership between Good360, United Movement Organized Kindness (U.M.O.K.), Clean the World, and several local service providers, 277 individuals received essential items and services that help restore comfort, confidence, and connection.

Meeting Basic Needs — and the Whole Person

Throughout the event, individuals could access new clothing, jackets, boots, hygiene kits, and other essential items made available through Good360’s product philanthropy network.

But the impact of the day went beyond distributing goods. Community partners provided warm showers, haircuts, food, and resources, creating a space where individuals could meet immediate needs while reconnecting with others in their community.

For many attendees, something as simple as taking a shower or choosing clothing that reflected their personal style carried deep emotional meaning.

“Taking a shower is refreshing,” explained Peter Politis, founder and CEO of United Movement Organized Kindness. “Having access to hygiene and fresh clothing makes everything else easier, looking for a job, engaging with people, getting back out into the world.”

Restoring Dignity Through Choice

One theme echoed throughout the day: dignity.

For Mary, who has been navigating homelessness for nearly twenty years, the opportunity to choose items for herself made a powerful difference. As she browsed the clothing tables, she spotted pink shoes and a matching pink jacket in her favorite color. With help from volunteers, she was also able to find pink pants, completing a full outfit.

Moments like this may seem small, but for Mary, the ability to choose something new, something that reflected her personality, was a rare opportunity. For individuals navigating hardship, selecting items that feel personal can help restore confidence, identity, and self-worth.

Christine Newkirk, Good360’s Vice President of Individual Giving, witnessed the impact firsthand and shared, “So often, people don’t get to choose what they receive, and the items are used. Seeing someone take the tags off something brand new—being the first person to wear it—that’s dignity.”

Access to new clothing carries deep meaning. It’s more than meeting a physical need; it’s about reminding someone they deserve dignity, choice, and care.

Hygiene as a Turning Point

Mobile showers provided by Clean the World were another critical component of the day’s support.

Michelle, a team member supporting the mobile shower program, sees the impact every week. “Showers are a game changer,” she explained. “People tell us they finally feel ready for the day—ready for a job interview, ready to go to court, ready to take the next step. They just want to feel normal again.”

For individuals experiencing homelessness, reliable access to showers is often limited or restricted. Many shelters only allow showers during specific evening hours, meaning daytime access is rare.

Providing this access can make a meaningful difference not just physically, but emotionally. Access to basic hygiene can be transformative. Studies show that something as simple as regular access to showers and clean clothing can increase a person’s chance of securing employment and transitioning out of homelessness.

Essential items, including hygiene kits, toothbrushes, first aid supplies, blankets, water bottles, jackets, shoes, and cold-weather gear, were provided throughout the day. Along with the opportunity for a warm shower.

The Human Impact

For people attending the event, the impact was immediate and deeply personal.

Kamara, who came to the event while navigating homelessness, described how the experience restored a sense of hope.

“It gave me hope again,” she said. “We were just sitting in an alley homeless, asking ourselves, what do we do now? So many doors had been shut on us. When you see people come out and care like this, it reminds you there are still people in the world with heart.”

Another participant, Deon, emphasized how essential items like weatherproof boots and hygiene products can make everyday survival easier. “Getting shoes out here is tough,” he said. “But these boots help with the cold and being outside. Things like toothpaste, shampoo—they’re essential when you don’t have access to them.”

Beyond the items themselves, many people simply valued the opportunity to connect. “Sometimes just having a conversation with someone can change their whole outlook on life,” said Ashley, founder of Everybody Is Somebody.

The Role of Partnership

Events like this are only made possible through collaboration between nonprofits, volunteers, and corporate donors working together to address complex community challenges.

“No single organization can meet every need,” said Grant Fitzgerald, Senior Director of Logistics and Fulfillment at Good360. “But when organizations work together—providing goods, services, and support—we can make a real difference in people’s daily lives.”

By connecting corporate donors with nonprofits serving communities on the ground, Good360 helps ensure that essential goods reach the people who need them most—turning excess into essential resources that strengthen communities.

Looking Ahead

For the organizations involved, the event was not just about one day of support. It was about building stronger systems of care that meet people where they are and treat every individual with dignity.

“Everybody has a story,” said Ashley, founder of Everybody Is Somebody, another community partner present that day. “And sometimes the smallest thing—a pair of socks, a shower—can change someone’s life.”

Through partnerships like these, Good360 continues working alongside nonprofit partners to expand access to essential goods and services ensuring that individuals facing hardship not only receive what they need to survive but are reminded that they are seen and valued.

Because sometimes the path forward begins with something simple: a warm shower, a clean shirt, and the reminder that someone still cares.
