Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties works with individuals, families, and communities to help them meet their needs, address their issues, eliminate oppression, and build a just and compassionate society. Thanks to a donation from Toys for Tots in partnership with Good360, on April 12, 2024, the organization’s Foster Care Department held their annual toy giveaway to foster kids and families that live in Mid-Michigan. Despite the rain and cold, many families came out with their kids to receive two new toys for each child. When the event was over, 265 children received toys! In a separate toy distribution, Catholic Charities also gave away toys to 210 children whose families are clients of their North End Soup Kitchen.

The staff of the Children’s Center said, “We all enjoyed helping to give away the toys. The children were happy, and the parents were thankful. It was with God’s blessing that we were able to help so many children who will enjoy the toys for many months. Most of these children come into care with just a suitcase and some clothes. It is a blessing that these new toys will provide some normalcy in their lives.”

Toys for Tots provides hope and joy year-round to economically disadvantaged children. Catholic Charities and Good360 have teamed up with Toys for Tots three years in a row to give Mid-Michigan families toys that they may not be able to afford. Everything given away in the Community Service Department is free to the families they serve. Since that time, through their Good360 donor partners, Catholic Charities has supplied toys and other essential items to more than 1,200 families in the community.
