Susan M. Brownell is an innovative leader and executive advisor with over three decades of experience driving operational excellence in supply chain management and organizational strategy. Susan’s expertise spans procurement and acquisition management, logistics, strategic planning, technology implementation, and talent development.
Prior to her board service, Susan had a 28-year career at the United States Postal Service (USPS) where she held the position of Vice President, Supply Management. While in this role, Susan led $12 billion in annual spend and transformed supply chain operations to achieve significant cost savings, improved efficiencies, and high client satisfaction. Her leadership was instrumental in adopting innovative solutions and fostering sustainable and scalable practices. Before joining USPS, Susan held positions in the Department of the Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command where she negotiated contracts for major acquisitions for weapon systems and shipbuilding. Currently as an independent consultant, Susan advises organizations offering tailored solutions, actionable insights, and best practices that help clients build strong client relationships, mitigate risks, and achieve strategic business objectives.
Susan holds a Professional MBA (Acquisition and Contract Management) from Florida Institute of Technology and a BA in Managerial Relations from The Catholic University of America. She is a Lifetime Certified Professional Contracts Manager through the National Contract Management Association and a former member of the Board of Advisors at CAPS Research. Susan is dedicated to creating meaningful impact by leveraging her collaborative approach and results-driven mindset to help organizations achieve their objectives in government, corporate and nonprofit environments.
