Young Women Receive Crucial Supplies and Help Eliminate Stigma

According to the American Medical Women’s Association, in the United States, women struggle to achieve adequate menstrual hygiene due to lack of access and income. The two prominent groups that face period poverty are students, and homeless women and girls.

This problem has only grown worse because of COVID-19 with supply chain delays, schools going virtual, and store closings. Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry has been addressing period poverty since the organization’s inception in 2014.

Besides providing diapers, wipes, and other necessities for infants, Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry assembles period kits, including sanitary napkins and clean undergarments.

Thanks to a donation of underwear from Good360, approximately 100 young women based in the Greater Memphis area received period kits during a recent distribution.

“People tell us because they get supplies from our organization, they can focus on paying rent or buying groceries,” said Cori Smith, founder of Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry. “Thank you, Good360 for helping us give dignity to these young ladies and working to eliminate the stigma surrounding menstruation.”
