13 Aug Using Art to Help Heal Survivors in Ohio
Organization: The K.A.S.SI.E Project
Lives Impacted: 20+
The K.A.S.SI.E Project, located in Ohio, is dedicated to serving all survivors of sexual and domestic abuse/violence, striving to help them create a better future. The project promotes a healthy life after abuse for women or men who are looking for a fresh start to heal from their past. The project hosts an annual fundraiser, Healing thru the Arts along with other services like the healing couch, survivor sessions and workshops!
With all the services provided, the Survivor Sessions seem to be the most impactful for the K.A.S.SI.E Project. Thanks to the Secura donations, the bi-monthly sessions can offer giveaways presented at the end of the events. The giveaway promotes a fun experience after the healing to bring a lighthearted spirit to those attending! The sessions are a “safe place” for the survivors to discuss their trauma among their peers and work towards healing.
All attendees are given a ticket at the beginning of the session, and towards the end there is a drawing where one lucky winner gets to take home a prize! Our last winner was a gentleman from Cincinnati, Ohio who recently lost all his possessions in a fire. He was so excited to receive this because he was able to make smoothies for breakfast and other quick meals. He mentioned this gift helped get “one step closer to getting all his kitchen supplies back.” Thank you to Good360 and Secura for helping us provide exciting donations to our awesome survivors!
