United Way Distribution Event Provides Bedding Essentials for Women’s Shelters

United Way of Westchester and Putnam

Through Good360’s Circle of Good network of generous corporate donors and vetted nonprofit members, we are able to connect socially responsible companies with nonprofit organizations to ensure essential items are getting into the hands of individuals and families in need.

Throughout the pandemic, we have worked with donors to find innovative ways to assist nonprofit members in meeting the growing needs of the populations they serve. Taking into account how the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected women, Good360 is actively finding ways to support women during these unprecedented times.

Thanks to our long-standing partnership with Brooklinen, we distribute much-needed home essentials to individuals and families, with a focus on women in need, through our dedicated Community Redistribution Partners (CRP).

As part of our joint initiative to address the issue of housing instability for women, Good360 CRP United Way of Westchester and Putnam County (UWWP) held a distribution event on March 23, where local shelters came together to receive product donations for the women they serve. They received bed linens, pillows, and bathrobes from Brooklinen, as well as personal care and beauty items.

The shelters were grateful for the generosity. Speaking on behalf of My Sisters’ Place, LaMarr Powell, MA, Director of Residential Services, thanked the organizations involved. “Thank you so much United Way and Brooklinen for donating these beautiful items to our shelter. The past year has been tough for everyone, especially for our residents seeking safety and shelter while also struggling with the fear and uncertainty of the pandemic. Your support for MSP means everything to us and our clients. Knowing that our residents have so many people who are there to support them and provide them with quality items to help them feel more at home in shelter is indescribable. Thank you!”

In addition to UWWP, Good360 works with four other CRPs across the country to bring these quality products to individuals and families in need. Below are some of the stories from our CRPs that are utilizing Brooklinen donations to help women in their communities:

Serve the People in Santa Ana, California distributes Brooklinen donations to nonprofits in its community. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the organization has had to adjust their regular outreach into drive-thru distribution events, but their hard work has allowed many people to receive assistance during these challenging times. Working with local churches and other nonprofits, Serve the People has distributed sheets, pillows, and towels to families in need. Nicolette Ortega of Serve the People said, “Everyone seems to light up when they receive new sheets and towels!”

Agape Distribution, a CRP serving its community in Ohio, works to end homelessness and redistribute goods to the underprivileged. Thanks to Brooklinen, the organization supports local women’s shelters, including Rustic Hope and Elizabeth’s New Life Center with brand-new, quality pillows and towels – items that are always in demand.
