Underprivileged Youth and Family Receive Personal Items from Community

Organization: Serving with Grace
Lives Impacted: 50+
Donor: Walmart

As Told to Good360 by Serving with Grace

Serving with Grace located in Plantation FL, has been part of the Walmart Retail Donation Program for about 6 months. Thanks to the friendly staff in our pickup location, we have had such a great relationship and experience so far.  Once we enrolled in this program, we invested in a vehicle, storage warehouse and volunteers. We are currently renting a larger vehicle, since we don’t have a dedicated car that we own right now. We also rent a storage warehouse that we use to store and distribute the goods we collect were our volunteers come to help us in sorting through the donations (primarily the clothing) once a week. Our goal is to get a larger vehicle to help us with future donations and getting more goods to our community.

Our target audience is children and families, so our mission is to serve underprivileged youth and families in need of a little additional assistance. Most of the items include clothing, baby items or general household items. We receive a variety of donations including clothing, undergarments, bikes, toys, household items, baby items and clothing, misc. appliances and technical items. The most beneficial item that we receive are the clothing and undergarments donations.

One of the individuals that came to our organization for a pickup was a single mom who currently lives in a treatment center and has three kids. She attends the church of a mutual friend of ours and we were introduced over the phone. We were able to help her with clothing and underwear for her children, diapers and toys for her infant child, as well as a baby bouncer. She was so grateful after receiving the items that she called us the next day and expressed her gratitude. One of the memorable things that she said was “Anything is everything”. This meant that anything or any type of donation that we were able to provide her meant everything to her and her family. It was very heartwarming to hear that and to see the impact we were making in the life of that family.  We will definitely be renewing this relationship with Good360 for the next 12 months,  it is extremely valuable to us. Thank you Good360 for helping us with this program to give back to those in need.
