Target Donation Brings Joy to Inner City Children

Camp Joy, located in Whitewater, Wisconsin, is a year-round ministry that offers a multitude of camps, conferences, and retreats for all ages and is dedicated to serving as an extension of local churches. Our camp is so important because it functions as a spiritual greenhouse, filtering out everyday pressures and creating an ideal environment for spiritual growth.

The donation of bouncy balls that we received from Target will be great for our young people to play with! We have a lot of youth camps for inner city children from Chicago and Milwaukee. We are using the donation for large games that hundreds of kids play together at one time. Some of our inner-city kids have not been outside a ten-city block area prior to Camp Joy. The fun games we play help them have a great time and keep boredom away. Many of these kids will say to us, “This has been the best week of my life!” Donations like this will make a difference in their lives for years to come. This donation will also help us keep costs low. Inner-city families usually do not have much money, so efficiency is very important to us.

We had two preteen boys, whose parents had recently committed suicide, come to Camp Joy for a weekend. The church that sponsored and brought them said that the weekend was a great help as they try to help them sort through this difficult time. The kids love to play games, and there is nothing like playing a bouncy ball game with a large group of friends!
