For the month of June, Sam’s Club stores across the country donated Serta Simmons mattresses to more than 110 of Good360’s nonprofit partners. Transcend Stem Education was one of the groups selected, and the organization picked up mattresses from Sam’s Club #4795 in Grapevine, TX.

During normal times, Transcend Stem Education provides workforce development and career services through online-based and classroom training. Recognizing that their students have been facing personal challenges outside of the classroom because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Transcend Stem Education pivoted to help their clients any way possible, including providing household essentials to the most vulnerable individuals.

Haphen Muchapondwa, Founder and Executive Director of Transcend Stem Education, mentioned the impact the mattresses had on Debbie*, a mother of two who was in tears when she received the donation. According to Haphen, she had been fasting and praying for a miracle because with limited income she struggled to provide for her family. Not only was Transcend Stem Education able to find her a safe place to live, but the organization also equipped the family with two full-size beds (one for Debbie and another for her children) courtesy of Good360, Sam’s Club and Serta Simmons.

Haphen said the donation far exceeded the answer Debbie anticipated to her prayers. Thank you Good360, Sam’s Club and Serta Simmons for answering the prayers of those in need during these challenging times.
