Refugees Thrive Thanks to Clothing Donation after House Fires

Organization: Heimatstern e.V.
Lives Impacted: 50
Donor: Levi’s

As told to Good360 by Heimatstern e.V.

Heimatsterne.V. located in Munich, Germany is a charity organization that helps those in need despite race, religion, sexual orientation or income. We believe every human being is entitled to physical well-being, an entitlement which is impaired by hunger, insufficient health care or lack of proper housing. Our goal is to explore and develop strategies and ways to advocate full integration of refugees into our society. Apparel donations are often a good place to start because a person’s appearance can often impact how quickly he/she is able to integrate within a new community.

Early last December, a fire in a camp for asylum seekers west of Munich rendered more than 50 people homeless. In many cases, the flames destroyed all possessions of the people coming from countries like Afghanistan or Syria. Thankfully, Heimatstern e.V. was able to help survivors with clothing donations, including items from Levi’s retailers. Thanks to this generous donation and items from local volunteers who donated new underwear and shoes, and an assortment of several dozen pairs of jeans, t-shirts and jackets, Heimatstern e.V. was able to swiftly distribute the items to the people directly affected by the fire’s destruction — all thanks to Good360 and Levi’s.

We try to assist anyone whether homeless or refugeeshowever, we see every day what a difference it makes if new clothes can be given to people in need. The surprise and the smile when they realize it’s theirs to take is something that moves us every time. Thank you Good360 and Levi’s, for this amazing donation – because of organizations like you, we are able to give refugees a better life one day at a time.
