Nourishing Pennsylvania Students Through Backpack Donations

Lives Impacted: 40

Twin Valley Elementary Center, located in northwestern Chester County, Pennsylvania, offers a PTO organization working with the school to provide whatever we can to students lacking in resources or food in our school district. Approximately 30% of our students are on free or reduced lunch plans, and lack the proper nutrition they need to get through the day. By providing food each week, students and their families have a little extra in their pantry and one less thing to worry about on their to-do lists. All of our students are impacted greatly through this program whether through meals, learning proper nutrition or making friends. These kids are so proud to be able to take food home each Friday.

4 years ago, our organization started a “Backpack Program” named Raider Reach (we are the Twin Valley Raiders). This program is open to any family lacking food in our school and is available to all members living in the household. The program is completely confidential to the volunteers and the families listed. Every week, food is donated by the local foodbank, and organized into the backpacks by our volunteers. We hold several food drives within our school and every event helps over 40 students. The backpacks from this donation were used by those students to carry their food home, and to provide storage for their supplies. Every year we need to replace the backpacks and thanks to Good360, our organization was able to do that for all families in a very affordable manner. Thank you for all that you do and for your dedication to helping our students.
