Mattress Donation Helps Families Sleep Through the Night in Virginia

Organization: The Health Wagon
Lives Impacted: 50+
Donation: Matresses

As Told to Good360 by The Health Wagon

The Health Wagon is a nonprofit organization providing mobile health services to the medically undeserved in Southwest Virginia since 1980. The Health Wagon’s mission is to provide compassionate, quality health care to the people in the Mountains of Appalachia who lack the resources for proper healthcare. Our values are inclusiveness, community outreach, collaboration, spirituality and empowerment. We currently have 4,623 active patients within our community and continue to work towards our goal of providing proper medical programs without hesitation for those who struggle financially.

Thanks to this donation of comfortable mattresses, we were able to give back to the residents who struggle to make ends meet on a daily basis. It was such a blessing to our community to watch families receive mattresses after months of strain.  Many clients shared with us that they were finally able to have a good night’s rest, and how their kids were so excited to sleep on a bed that didn’t have springs poking through. One recipient shared that they had been sleeping on mattresses that was 30 years old because they couldn’t afford anything else. We are so grateful and honored to be a part of this distribution for our community. Thank you Good360 for helping us provide comfort and happiness to the homes of those on fixed incomes in our community.
