Improving the lives of Women and Girls Through Amway Donations

Organization: Soroptimist
Lives Impacted: 80
Donation: Amway
Website: https://www.soroptimist.org/

Soroptimist, a service organization in Oakland, California, improves the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Created in 1921, at a time when women were not permitted to join service organizations, we currently support those in service and have about 160,000 members and supporters in 21 countries and territories. Our vision is for women and girls to have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential to live out their dreams.

Looking good and feeling great about yourself impacts the self-confidence of women and affects their everyday lives. With this in mind, we created a new program called the Women’s Cabinet to benefit low-income mothers and single women that can’t afford hygiene or personal items throughout the Oakland area.  This Amway donation was used in our cabinet, which provides hygiene products for all ages. This includes facial wash, cleansers, moisturizers, toothpaste and hair products.  Providing hygiene products to them at no charge allows them to pay for their rent and focus on other bills.

Along with the single women we serve, we service several low-income families in our community and this donation allows us to provide to women, teenagers, and young boys and girls. Each tube of toothpaste goes to a different person, so the 100 children’s toothpaste tubes will go to 100 children, and the 80 or more tubes of adult toothpaste will go to 80 people in need. Thank you for continuing to help us spread love and light to those in our community and service the women in need.
