16 Nov Household Goods Donations Help Make This House a Home
Organization: Bingham Crisis Center
Lives Impacted: 300
Bingham Crisis Center located in Blackfoot, ID works within the community to help eliminate domestic and sexual violence. We promote healthy non-violent relationships by providing emergency services, shelters, individual and group treatment, education, and support services to survivors and their families. We have an area in our center known as the Community Closet that has various items such as bedding, pillows, clothing, kitchen items etc. This room is open to all members in need to use at little to no cost.
Since our community has very few resources, this donation from a household store came at a critical time. We believe that the homeless and underprivileged populations should experience soft pillows, clean sheets and high-quality bedding just like everyone else. This has filled a need for many people that don’t have an income or have a very tight budget, giving them some of the necessary items they may need.
A married couple, who just took in their grandchildren because they were no longer able to live with their mother, really appreciated these new items. She struggled with the decision to take in the children, due to their health but did not want the children to end up in foster care. This couple brought them in to their home, with little income but desperately wanted to get their home ready for the children. These items gave this couple the fresh start they needed to make their house a home. They prepared their home with items such as bedding, pillows, housewares, and blinds, which saved them a substantial amount of money. The grandmother broke down in tears as we were helping load her vehicle, she couldn’t thank us enough for the help she received. She said, “you all are an answer to our prayers.” Thank you Good360 for helping us give back to the community, and create homes for those in need.
