As Told to Good360 by The Community Builder

The Community Builder, Inc., located in Nampa, ID, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and resources to disadvantaged and financially distressed individuals and families. Our hope is to provide enough guidance and resources to help them become more self-sufficient. Our mission is to improve their quality of life by strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and helping people who strive to become self-sufficient reach their full potential and become less dependent on government assistance.

Thanks to this donation of house items from Pottery Barn and Bed Bath & Beyond, we were able to provide items to struggling families. One of our program partners works with housing authority officials to help provide shelter for homeless individuals or affordable plans to make life convenient. Working with the housing authority, as apartments become available homeless individuals on the waiting list can transition off the street and secure housing. With this donation we can provide them with bedding and bath items when they move into their new homes. To date a total of 382 families and 177 teens received bedding items over the past year and they have been able to use any money they have on food and clothing.

We have received so many appreciative letters from these recipients who did not feel worthy of these items. One of our male individuals was a 32-year-old from Nampa, ID who had been unemployed for over a year. After landing a job, he was able to move into low income housing but did not have any furnishings. With the donations we received we were able to provide him with bedding and bath items for his new apartment. He came to visit and with a big smile said, “that was the best night sleep I’ve had in a long time.” Thank you to Good360 and their donors, because of you we can spread the gift of comfort and happiness to individuals in need.
