As Told to Good360 by Karen Dudley Ministries
Karen Dudley Ministries, located in Dallas, TX, strives to be the beacon of light to our beloved homeless community. In 2004, our organization moved to South Dallas and operated from a tent for two years, remaining focused on helping the homeless and broken people from the inner city. In 2010, we moved to Second Avenue, where church services are held five nights a week. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to 200 people every day.
We provide many programs such as the Life Skills Training Program, which was established as a one-year residential discipleship program. As of today, it has been expanded to a two-year “life changing” program. We help the homeless men and women transition into affordable housing and eventually set them up to succeed and live on their own.
Thanks to this donation from Pottery Barn, we were able to help those in need find housing. Once we place them, we provide their bedding and some home decor items to help them make their house a home. This donation helps people who are starting from nothing to get on their feet with sheets and towels. It is a blessing to those that really have nothing.
One story that comes to mind is an apartment community who completely lost everything in a fire in Dallas. With the donations received from Pottery Barn we were able to help 10 families get new bedding, curtains and towels in time for the holidays. The families were truly blessed and had such a positive reaction to receiving the donation. Thank you to both Good360 and Pottery Barn for helping us provide new beginnings to our community.
