Oorah is a national nonprofit organization harnessing the rich Jewish tradition to help Jewish children and their families develop into productive members of their communities. Oorah’s full suite of year-round programs, including summer camps, youth groups, school placement and tuition assistance, use a tailored approach to meet each child’s needs, giving them access to the support and resources they need to succeed.

Kars4Kids, a sister charity of Oorah, is a national Jewish nonprofit organization focused on youth development, education, family outreach and mentorship in Lakewood, NJ. Our year-round programs help children and teens develop into productive members of society, giving them the foundation for successful and meaningful lives. In addition to emotional, spiritual and educational support, financial assistance is a big part of what we do. It is critical for children to have their physical needs cared for in order to develop into healthy and happy adults.

Together, Kars4Kids and Oorah organized a distribution of brand new, quality Newell highchairs for local families in need. The turnout was far larger than expected. Over the course of one hour, over 500 high chairs were distributed, one per family. Clearly, the need for such higher-cost child rearing essentials is high.

Many of the families who came have growing families and, concurrently, growing ongoing expenses. A free highchair relieves a little part of the financial burden these families face. One of the parents told us, “Receiving this free highchair made a big difference for our family. With a very active toddler and an old high chair that couldn’t quite contain him, mealtime was very chaotic for our family. The highchair you gave us is perfect for our family–it’s high quality, with lots of great features, and has turned dinner from a struggle into an enjoyable family time.”

A huge need was filled with these chairs! A high chair is an expensive item for many families, one that most were forced to go without due to financial situations. This donation made it possible for families to no longer have to worry about their child being safe and comfortable at meal time. We were glad to be able to meet this need with the help of partners like Good360 and Newell. Thank you!
