10 Sep Helping Families in Need throughout the Appalachian Community
Organization: Appalachian Outreach
Lives Impacted: 20
Donation: KEEN Shoes
Appalachian Outreach is a year-round poverty relief ministry located in Appalachia that focuses on serving families in need around the surrounding counties. Serving in the area for 30 years helping those living in East Tennessee with word and deed, we are humbled and amazed at the ministry God has provided here in East Tennessee.
We run many different programs within the organization, we have a large focus to benefit different needs throughout the community. We have a Clothing & Food Ministry to provide meals to over 400-600 families a month as well as five articles of clothing. We also provide home repairs, a firewood shelter for warmth during the winter, shelter for single women and struggling families, and furniture donations priced reasonably for homes and businesses.
Thanks to the donation from KEEN Shoes, we were able to distribute the items to the women through our clothing ministry. These shoes have provided the ladies residing at the Samaritan House a personal item they can posses with purpose and pride. Physically they are good for their feet but it also boosts self-confidence when they have something nice to wear to an interview.
Sarah came to the Samaritan House a few weeks ago after being asked to leave a home she was sharing with a friend. She also had to leave all her belongings behind. Along with this change, she was experiencing some serious medical issues and needed to be seen immediately by a medical professional. With a lot of effort on everyone’s part, Sarah became medically stable. After focusing on her health, Sarah worked hard to get some personal items so when this donation came along and she picked out a new pair of shoes, a smile soon crossed her face. Life had been hard but the small things have brought her a lot of joy. Thank you Good360 and KEEN for helping us provide smiles to those in our community.
