Donation of Bicycles is a Lifeline to Prisoners Seeking Employment

The Moore Wright Group (TMWG) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty, abuse, and abandonment in our community by providing hope. Our vision is to create communities where everyone can thrive.

As a Community Redistribution Partner, we receive large quantities of goods from Good360.  Recently, Good360’s Retail Donation Partnership program donated a large shipment of bicycles to our organization, and we knew exactly how to put them to good use.

Our Experience Hope Project is focused on helping youth and young adults who are survivors of abuse or coming out of detention centers to have the skills to be able to become successful adults.  For many, this means finding meaningful employment.  Unfortunately, many detainees don’t have access to transportation, so getting a job outside of the detention center is out of the question.  However, thanks to this donation of bicycles from Good360, we have provided more than 70 bikes for detainees to get to and from work.

For one young woman, the bicycle was a lifeline to her dream job serving as a peer leader to those who are recovering from opioid addiction.  Without the bike, she would have had to walk three miles each way to her job, through perilous neighborhoods and other dangerous conditions.  Thanks to the donated bike, she accepted the job, thrived in the position, and was ultimately released from the detention center so she could continue to live a productive life.  This is just one of many success stories we have to share, and we are grateful to Good360 for making it all possible.
