22 Oct Donated Laptops Provide Help To Medically Fragile Children
Organization: Exceptional Care for Children
Lives Impacted: 38
Exceptional Care for Children, in Newark, DE was founded in 1998 by Jeannine S. Winsness, RN, MSN, CRNP. Her vision began as a hope for medically fragile children to have an improved model of care providing them a safe environment to heal. Seeing the need for care that bridged the gap between traditional in-patient treatment and the difficulties of pediatric home care models, our founder was determined to open Exceptional Care for Children. After raising more than $2.9 million for extensive renovations and working capital, Exceptional Care for Children opened its doors as one of the first facilities in the country to provide skilled nursing, transitional, and end-of-life care.
Thanks to donations like these laptops we can combine medicine and technology to get the best results for our patients. The laptops are being mounted to our 12 medication carts as we are moving all medical records to a web-based electronic format. This will allow the nurses and respiratory therapists to document in real-time at the bed side for each resident. The computers on the medication carts will increase productivity but more importantly, they will also ensure the completeness and accuracy of the documentation through efficiency and readily available information. This is a safety enabler, a measure of continuity, and sound way to provide good communication between caregivers about their young patients. The information is now portable and at the bedside with this installation. Upon installation this will increase the efficiency of the caregiver, the accuracy of their services and the timeliness of documentation.
Thank you Good360 for helping us grow with technology and staying up-to-date in our hospital, helping enable us to provide the best care possible for these children who don’t generally have other options or access to this level and type of care.
