As Told to Good360 by The Nest – Center for Women, Children and Families

The Nest – Center for Women, Children and Families, located in Lexington, KY, provides a safe place for education, counseling and support for children and families in crisis. Our programs focus on the prevention of physical/sexual abuse and neglect of children, and the stabilization of the family unit. The donation of Seventh Generation Newborn Diapers was given out to new mothers who needed diapers for their babies, along with donated wipes. This donation helped alleviate some of the financial stress that can occur with the addition of a baby. It also ensures the newborn baby will have clean, fresh diapers and wipes to help with their overall health.

By alleviating some of the stress involved with the addition of a new baby, it helps reduce added tension so the family feels more secure in caring for their newborn. Having a basic human need, such as having enough diapers for their infant, can help the new parent feel more secure and confident in tackling other obstacles and challenges that may occur.

A young mother came to us for diapers and wipes after losing her job a few months prior due to unfortunate circumstances. Through the hard times, she was able to gain another job to support herself and the baby. Unfortunately, she needed some diapers to hold her over until her first paycheck, because she would not be paid in time. Thanks to the donation of diapers, she was able to concentrate on taking care of her child and preparing for her new employment. Thank you Good360 and Seventh Generation for helping us transition these families into happy homes.
