17 Aug Creative use of Ann Taylor Donation Empowers Tech Skill Development
Organization: NicNac Charities Inc
Lives Impacted: 75+
Donation: Ann Taylor
NicNac Charities, located in Pennsylvania, aspires to significantly eliminate the amassed technical illiteracy rate here within the Lehigh Valley by creating many new learning opportunities. Established in August of 2016, we have been heavily driven towards the proper execution of our mission. Striving to empower all people to be successful through their use of technology, we are eager to assist candidates that are willing to learn and grow their skills.
In some locations, seating can be an issue which limits the number of attendants in our rooms. Thanks to Ann Taylor, the donations of fixtures given to us earlier this year were used as sitting areas, which gave people from the community a space to gather and work on their tech skills. Those who attend learn more about technology and can apply it to their lives solving problems such as lack of communication through technology within their family, assistance with job placement, and finding addiction rehabilitation services. Others use their new-found knowledge to publish websites, apps or even start a business!
Mark, a WWII veteran, came to us and asked how he could be in contact with other people using the internet. Our team, at the very tables provided by Ann Taylor, got him connected on social media as well as on some chat boards for veterans. Since he has been working through some personal issues, such as PTSD, being able to share with other veterans in the same position was therapeutic. We have since altered our mission to embrace rehabilitative services afforded to veterans through technology — we are in the process of creating our own service where all veterans have a source they can use to talk to their peers and stay connected with their family. Thank you Good360 and Ann Taylor for helping us expand our reach with more tables ultimately helping more people in our community.
