Contest Runner-Up: Breast Cancer Survivors Are Given the Gift of Beauty Through Donations

Organization: The Breast Cancer Charities of America
Lives Impacted: 2050
Website: http://www.iGoPink.org

The Breast Cancer Charities of America, a national non-profit, strives to be the new voice of breast cancer throughout the nation. As a non-profit, our central focus is on educating, empowering and encouraging all men and women to become proactive in preventing breast cancer and, if diagnosed, surviving breast cancer. We intend to educate everyone until breast cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.

Treatment for this disease often takes away from a women’s sense of femininity, and leaves them feeling less than. The Feeling Beautiful Again program sends beauty bags of hope through The Breast Cancer Charities of America. This national program provides beauty bags to hospitals, cancer care facilities, support groups and all those who are currently working with breast cancer patients and survivors. The program was established to empower women and to allow them to see their beauty and strength through breast cancer treatment.

Each bag is complete with over $150 of beauty items, such as nail polish, personal care items, and accessories. Each bag also has educational material to guide patients and their families through the process of breast cancer survival. The nail polishes were included in beauty bags distributed by the program to help bring some beauty to the negative side effects of breast cancer. After seeing what this program does for women, we knew we needed to expand our reach through deliveries to provide bags for all patients to lift their spirits.

One member, Olivia said she heard about The Breast Cancer Charities and the Feeling Beautiful Again program one day through just a general internet search, and was so intrigued! She requested the bags online, and the delivery was even greater than expected. “How can I even begin to put the patient’s feelings into words? First, they were just so grateful for the bag when I handed it to them, but once they looked inside, their excitement turned them into little girls again! The bags took their mind off of cancer, even if it was for just a moment,” she said. Thank you Good360 for helping us give back the beauty and strength to these breast cancer warriors.
