22 Aug Clothing Donation in Puerto Rico Helps Children in Need
Organization: San Jorge Children’s Foundation
Lives Impacted: 200
Donation: GAP Clothing
San Jorge Children’s Foundation, located in Puerto Rico, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the health and well-being of children within the country. The organization was founded in 1995, by current CEO Domingo Cruz Vivaldi, Dr. Luis Clavell and Alfredo Völckers, to help provide a better way of life for children as young as 1 to 21 years old. Many of the children who receive care through the organization have been diagnosed with cancer, chronic illnesses or suffer from physical malformations.
After Hurricanes Irma and Maria, we are doing our best to help with the rebuilding process in the communities that are still without electricity and water and that also need clothing. This donation of GAP clothing was provided to underprivileged families in Puerto Rico as well as to foster homes to help those in the community who lack basic personal items. The jackets were wonderful for our cancer patients in the hospital trying to stay warm from the constant change in temperatures. These changes can lead to complications or contamination so keeping our patients warm is a huge plus.
This donation also supported abandoned children who are now in foster homes. We cover their medical expenses, but it was so special to be able to help them in another way, and for them to have high quality new clothes while going through hard times. One family we helped received pants, jeans, shoes, shirts, belts, and so much more after the mother passed away from cancer. She was raising two young boys whose father was not in the picture. After she passed they were taken in by a good family friend who was so overwhelmed by the donation. We also gave this wonderful woman the opportunity to choose some outfits for herself. Thank you Good360 and GAP for the opportunity to give back to those in need.
