28 Jan Clothing Donation Helps Veterans During Winter Season
Organization: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7507 Foundation
Lives Impacted: 60
Donation: Eddie Bauer
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. Our organization was founded based on the many wounded or sick veterans that arrived home and were not offered medical care. Some were left without medical aid and had to take care of themselves. Our mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts and give them aid through their transition after war. We ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this country.
Thanks to this donation from Eddie Bauer we were able to provide new clothing items to female veterans. In Arizona there is an event called The Stand Down, were hundreds of homeless veterans are offered clothing, food and personal care items. Too often donations take the male veterans into account, but few acknowledge the homeless female veterans. Many suffer from pain, PTSD and the feeling that they must do whatever they have to in order to care for themselves to get by. This donation will go to assisting those homeless female veterans to keep warm on our coldest Arizona winter nights.
As many can imagine, the homeless life is not a pretty one. Many are lacking in proper nutrition, are dependent on others for food and water, and lack proper hygiene items. By helping these veterans, we are working to have them open up about their struggles and receive the aid that will help them get the supplies and assistance they need. Many of the recipients were very appreciative and thanked us for thinking of them during this cold season. Thank you Good360 and Eddie Bauer for helping us protect our veterans, whether through clothing, food or a warm hug!
