A Servant’s Heart Community Development International is an organization in Los Angeles, CA that provides programs, services, and resources to the low-income population of the Inland Empire. We have a Household Sustainability Program and a Homeless Assistance Program to help children and adults in need of clothing and shelter. Although we are a place of shelter, the Head of Household must pay the rent, utilities, and transportation fee which usually leaves us with no money for hygiene items, shoes, clothing, etc. To gain awareness and spread our name, we are organized and have shirts that show our “hearts on our sleeve” while out in the field. To witness this action empowers our members throughout our community. The Homeless wear out their shoes, clothing, and have a variety of needs. Through donations like these items, we are able to directly serve them and motivate them at the same time.
One of the recipients of this donation was a homeless male who came to our warehouse to ask for work. We gave him some jobs around the warehouse and he turned out to be one of our best workers. I noticed that his shoes had holes through the bottom and wanted to give back to him for all his hard work. I ordered the sports items to offer him and explained that he must keep them for himself. He was very happy and thanked us for caring about him enough to offer him new shoes. Another couple that worked for us had a father who was recently injured and had to leave work. They enrolled in our Household Sustainability Program to take action towards a better future for themselves. As they cooperate with the terms of the program, they are able to receive donations as needed, and were very encouraged once they received their first pair of shoes to give to their child to wear to school. Thank you Good360 for helping us give back to our community!
