The “Best Summer Ever” At Annual Youth Camp

Greater Mt. Carmel Development Corporation aims to provide sound programs and create opportunities which help improve the economic, educational, and social status of the disadvantaged residents of Hillsborough County, Florida. We primarily serve youth residing in low income neighborhoods, whose family income is at or below the federal poverty level. This year, we kicked off greater-mt-carmel-4our annual youth summer camp with a “Thank Goodness It’s Summer” party.

Each child and parent was treated to a Guess Jeans shopping spree where they could choose some summer outfits. At our closing picnic, everyone was given school supplies from Dollar Days and Starlight. Our culminating event, “A Marvelous Experience in the Arts,” was a music and dance recital put on by the kids. All of the acts featured clothing donations from Men’s Wearhouse, Spotify, and Guess. As a result of these donations, each youth had at least two outfits to start the school year in August. The parents were very appreciative of this and they were impressed by the quality of the clothing. Several families had three or four children in the camp, so the financial impact was substantial.

greater-mt-carmel-2 This is our second summer camp where we have incorporated Good360 donations into a fun-filled summer for the local at risk youth. If all goes as planned, we hope to have a Christmas Bash that will also offer a free shopping spree. One child’s grandparent said they had never seen their grandchild so excited about participating in our summer camp. The grandchild told a staff member that this was the “best summer ever!”
