Donation: Bed Bath & Beyond
My Brothers and Sisters, a nonprofit community outreach program located in Florida, helps bridge the gap one family at a time. Our programs and activities incorporate various seminars, workshops, and employment initiatives as vehicles to promote positive self-image, commitment to family, ethics and education that will enable them to be productive citizens in society. We also take pride in being a blessing to families in need, bringing back family time for those who lost their home to tragedy.
One of the families we first had contact with was Adrienne Green and her mother. Adrienne is a local elementary school teacher who lived with her mom in a complex near the city. One night the complex caught fire while she was sleeping. Fortunately, all the tenants were able to exit the building, but the fire affected 5 families leaving them without a home.
Thanks to the donation by Bed Bath & Beyond, Adrienne was able to get her disabled mother a shower chair, a high-rise toilet seat, and a shower head to properly adjust in her handicap bathroom. The donation also provided four other families several household items such as irons, blankets, sheets, small kitchen appliances (coffee maker, fryer, skillet, crock pot), towels, comforters. This donation was just what they needed to kick start their new beginnings.
