20 Oct Beauty Products Help Honor Fallen Firefighters
DONATION: BURT’S BEES AND FIRST AID BEAUTY PRODUCTS
LIVES IMPACTED: 100+
The FDNY Women’s Benevolent Association aims to encourage, promote, and advance women who are active in any aspect of fire and emergency services in the FDNY through fellowship, education, mentoring, and networking. We received some wonderful products from Burt’s Bees and First Aid Beauty, such as lip and skin care products. The first distribution of this donation was used to create care packages for the widows and children of fallen FDNY firefighters. The second distribution of this donation will be used to create care packages for servicewomen that are sent from “Aunt Cathy.” Aunt Cathy is the aunt of fallen FDNY Firefighter and US Army Staff Sergeant Chris Engeldrum. She is working with us to honor his memory by supporting the servicemen and women who are still serving overseas.
This fall, the annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Colorado Springs will be held to honor all the men and women in fire and emergency medical services who have lost their lives in the line of duty during the past year. This year, FDNY is honoring 13 fallen members and their families. The families will be traveling across the country from New York City to Colorado Springs for the ceremony. This weekend, besides being emotionally difficult for family members, is also very physically challenging because of the difference in altitude and lack of humidity. These Burt’s Bees and First Aid Beauty products were able to provide comfort from the dry air and sunshine, as well as, bring a little joy to a difficult experience. Servicewomen are often overlooked in the care packages sent overseas by other groups. The FDNY Women’s Benevolent Association wants to let our sisters in service know we stand beside them and appreciate all they do. These skincare products from Burt’s Bees and First Aid Beauty will let them take a moment to feel feminine and refreshed. Thank you!
