Good360 Employee Earns Job and Diploma through Employment First Program Opportunity

At the Good360 National Distribution Center in Omaha, Nebraska, the potential for success stories goes beyond the product donations we distribute each day.

The success stories are also found with our employees.

Good360 participates in Nebraska’s Employment First Program, a welfare reform program which helps families achieve economic self-sufficiency through job training, education, and employment preparation. Through that program, more than 75 Employment First participants have worked in the Good360 Distribution Center.

Recently, one of the program participants was so amazing we couldn’t let her go—Christina Sibrian was offered a permanent part-time position as production lead, handling packaging, configurations and training of new participants so all projects and work performed are uniform.

“Christina worked here for one year,” said Kathleen Coartney, operations and production manager at Good360. “In that time she proved she had good attendance, paid attention to detail, got along with others, had a positive attitude and she could lead others.”

Sibrian moved to Omaha from South Dakota with her two children to make a fresh start. She says she was interested in working in a warehouse, and thought Good360 was a perfect fit. “I really enjoy coming here and knowing I’m helping someone else,” she says. “I know what it’s like to need assistance.”

In addition to completing the Employment First program, Sibrian also tackled another lifelong goal by completing her GED in November. “It was very important to me to get this done and finish this chapter in my life.  I can tell my kids that I went back and finished.”

Sibrian started as a Work Experience participant. All participants undergo soft skills training as needed, but Coartney says Sibrian didn’t need a lot of training in this area—she was already responsible and hard working.  “Christina quickly learned how to do projects and she was able to work with new participants to show them what to do. She has a very positive “can do” attitude. She is a great fit for our production lead position.”
