Williams Sonoma’s Donation of Backpacks and Lunchboxes Makes the Back-to-School Transition Smoother for Those Affected by Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian caused unprecedented damage and destruction in the Bahamas, but it also affected areas along the Atlantic in the U.S., including South Carolina.  Winds over 80 mph toppled trees over and left debris covering the roads.  Downed power lines left hundreds of thousands of people without power.  Life-threatening storm surges and heavy rainfall led to flooding.  Many people were forced to evacuate or to stay inside their homes for days, and schools were closed.  As people begin to recover from this disaster, they need support to repair the damage and get back into the routine of their lives.  Good360 is here to help in that process, and thanks to our generous donor Williams Sonoma and our nonprofit partner Tabernacle of God Ministries, we were able to make an impact in the lives of those affected.

Willams Sonoma donated backpacks and lunchboxes that Tabernacle of God Ministries distributed to those who were hit hard by the hurricane.  Volunteers from the nonprofit stuffed the backpacks with personal care items and canned food for people without homes and filled the lunchboxes with snacks for kids going back to school.  A member of Tabernacle of God Ministries said that “when the kids opened the lunchboxes and found goodies inside, their eyes lit up”.  For people who already do not have much and then go through a disaster like Dorian, items like a new lunch box or a backpack with make a world of difference—they make people feel cared for and they meet their needs.  Because of Willams Sonoma and Tabernacle of God Ministries, 165 families and 25 people without homes were impacted.

Good360 is committed to providing the right goods to the right people at the right time.  We are thankful for donors like Williams Sonoma and nonprofit partners like Tabernacle of God Ministries who help us do this by providing the goods and making sure they are distributed to the people who need them.  When we all work together, we are able to make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by disasters.
