06 Jul Good360 and Serta Provide Mattress Donations for Families in Need in Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico was pummeled by the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane season. Thousands of people lost everything in the storm and have been forced to relocate or rebuild their lives from the ground up. Response in Puerto Rico has been extremely difficult to navigate due to the location of the island and how expensive it is to send product there. Not to mention the still dilapidated infrastructure greatly effects the quantity of products that are able to move to the affected areas of the island.
Nonprofits and government agencies have had to be creative in their response and find innovative ways to ensure the people of Puerto Rico are getting the goods they need. Good Samaritan Shipping Ministries (GSSM) is a nonprofit group that was founded by a husband and wife who saw the intense need in Puerto Rico and decided they had to do something to help. Upon learning of the unique challenges Puerto Rico faces they realized that the most helpful way for them to engage was to find some way to make transportation down to the island more accessible for nonprofits. They then made a decision to start a nonprofit and purchase a boat that they could use to ship critically needed products to areas in need. When Good360 was connected to Good Samaritan Shipping Ministries we immediately knew that they would be an extremely important partner in long-term recovery and in the upcoming hurricane season.
Good360 recently received an incredible donation from Serta Simmons Bedding of high quality Tomorrow Sleep mattresses to go directly to Irma and Maria affected regions. Good360 partnered with GSSM to send over 300 mattresses to families in need in Puerto Rico. GSSM has a standing relationship with a nonprofit on the ground, JJ Lyon Guard Foundation, who will be distributing the mattresses to people who need them most. Many of the people who were affected by the storm have been without a mattress to sleep on for almost a year. This donation will go a long way in helping families to recover and be comfortable in their homes once again.
Good360 is dedicated to working with nonprofits who are connected to the needs of the people on the ground and have the capacity to accept large quantities of donations and distribute them efficiently. Good360 will continue building relationships with nonprofits like Good Samaritan Shipping Ministries who we can trust to respond in the most thoughtful and efficient way possible.
