Hurricane Maria made its first landfall on the Caribbean islands on Monday, September 18, as a Category 5 storm with winds topping 160 mph – the strongest hurricane on record to make landfall there. Days later, the storm devastated the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico was devastated yet again after they had just been pummeled by Hurricane Irma two weeks earlier. Trees were uprooted, homes were destroyed, and flooding was catastrophic and widespread. Nearly the entire population of Puerto Rico was left without power or access to basic necessities. Good360 immediately activated our private sector and nonprofit relationships to address the arising needs in Puerto Rico. As the recovery process progressed the need for beds and mattresses in communities was continually stressed by our nonprofit partners on the ground. Good360 mobilized with Cocoon mattresses to ensure that this critically needed product was delivered to those who desperately needed it.

When Good360 approached Cocoon with the need for mattresses in Puerto Rico, Cocoon graciously donated over $20,000 worth of mattresses to Good360 to be distributed to a community in need. Good360 worked with Ninos De Nueva Esperanza Community Center in Puerto Rico to distribute the mattresses. Ninos De Nueva provides personalized academic tutoring services, assistance in the psychosocial, sports and artistic areas to the children and families of their community. The community center has been one of Good360’s most trusted partners throughout the response to Hurricane Maria and has been faithfully serving their community throughout the whole recovery process. Good360 knew that providing this organization with the mattresses would ensure that the donation was going to do the most good for the people who were affected by the hurricane. The mattresses were distributed to the families of the children that the Community Center serves and went a long way in bringing hope and dignity to a community that is fighting to create their new normal.

The delivery of this product is a prime example of how effective Good360’s collaborative model can be. With the nonprofits knowledge of what is needed on the ground, Cocoon’s access to those needs and Good360’s ability to bridge the gap between the two; the delivery of critically needed product was made possible

Shari Rudolph is Chief Marketing Officer of Good360 and is an accomplished retail, digital commerce and media executive with a strong track record of building audience, revenue and brands. Shari’s previous experience includes management consulting as well as various executive and leadership roles at both start-ups and large media and retail e-commerce companies in Southern California, New York and Silicon Valley. She is also an adjunct professor teaching classes in marketing, advertising and entrepreneurial studies and she earned her MBA from The Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.
